I studied abroad in Salamanca my Sophomore year of high school before enrolling in Pomfret. My time abroad in Salamanca was a transformative experience in which I immensely improved my Spanish speaking skills and gained insight into a completely different culture. When I first arrived in Salamanca I struggled to speak a coherent sentence in Spanish, but after being completely immersed living with a host family, taking language courses, and spending time with local speakers I left Salamanca fluent. Salamanca is an incredible city with a rich history and academic atmosphere that attracts students from all around the world. As a 15 year old living away from home for the first time I felt very comfortable in this friendly and walkable city. I can not think of a better environment in which to learn the Spanish language and experience the culture. I would highly recommend spending time studying abroad in Salamanca, I guarantee it will be a transformative experience.

Studying in Salamanca allowed me to immerse myself into the Spanish culture, history, and lifestyle. The full immersion enhanced my ability to learn Spanish significantly more, while simultaneously presented an opportunity to implement my linguistic skills outside a classroom environment. Looking back, I truly am grateful for having experienced the program along with the support of my teachers, host family, and friends.
