My time abroad in Salamanca was a transformative experience in which I immensely improved my Spanish speaking skills and gained insight into a completely different culture. When I first arrived in Salamanca I struggled to speak a coherent sentence in Spanish, but after being completely immersed living with a host family, taking language courses, and spending time with local speakers I left Salamanca fluent. Salamanca is an incredible city with a rich history and academic atmosphere that attracts students from all around the world. As a 15 year old living away from home for the first time I felt very comfortable in this friendly and walkable city. I can not think of a better environment in which to learn the Spanish language and experience the culture.
